Product Overview

National Cargo Bureau, Inc. is regularly appointed by various clients to conduct Maximum Loadable Cargo or Dead-Freight Surveys. These surveys are conducted on board the vessel prior to loading or at the completion of loading.

These surveys include the following:

  • Maximum Loadable Cargo Surveys are conducted prior to loading to determine the maximum cargo that can be loaded based on vessel’s particulars, cargo stowage factor and any draft restrictions at loading, intermediate and discharge ports.
  • Dead-Freight Surveys are conducted at the completion of loading to determine the remaining cargo space and/or deadweight which can be utilized for cargo. These figures can be used to verify a vessels claim of dead-freight.
