OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training – Shipyard Safety Course

Training offered in partnership with NSU’s SEAMIST program at no cost to the student

Overview

The OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Maritime Industry: Training for Shipyard Safety course delivers entry-level safety and health hazard training built specifically for the shipyard workforce. Employees, supervisors, and managers leave with the working knowledge to recognize and control the hazards most common to shipyard operations, along with a clear understanding of worker rights and how to raise a concern with OSHA. An OSHA 10-hour card is sent to the student upon completion of the course.

This course is offered through NCB’s partnership with Nova Southeastern University’s SEAMIST (South East Area Maritime Industry Safety Training) program.

What the Course Covers

The curriculum walks through the hazard areas shipyard personnel are most likely to encounter on the job, including:

• Introduction to OSHA
• Walking and Working Surfaces
• Fall Protection and Scaffolding
• Electrical Hazards and Lockout/Tags Plus Program
• Hazard Communication and Hazardous Materials
• Fire Protection and Hot Work
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Confined and Enclosed Spaces
• Respiratory Protection
• Material Handling
• Ergonomics and Lifting Techniques

Format & Delivery

Instructor-led, delivered online.

Duration

10 hours of instruction, held over two consecutive days.
