NCB Launches Global Restricted Cargo Database

General News June 14, 2025     3:51 am

We are excited to announce the launch of the Global Restricted Cargo Database, a transformative new platform designed to improve safety, transparency, and compliance across the maritime supply chain.

Developed in response to the complex and fragmented landscape of cargo restrictions across ports, terminals, and carriers, the database offers a centralised, real-time repository of restricted cargo requirements. It enables industry stakeholders to access up-to-date information, streamline operations, and minimise risks associated with the transportation of dangerous, sensitive, and regulated goods.

“This initiative represents a critical step forward in enhancing global maritime safety,” said Ken Rohlmann, VP Global Activities at NCB. “But its success relies on broad industry adoption. We invite ports, terminals, and carriers to contribute their data and join us in building a safer, more connected supply chain.”

The platform is already operational and offers immediate benefits, including reduced administrative burden, improved booking accuracy, and lower risk of non-compliance. With the infrastructure in place and the safety need well established, NCB urges all stakeholders to act now and support the future of responsible cargo handling.
